The city council approved new legislation allowing shuttered grocery stores in Seattle to be replaced with another grocery chain, blocking efforts to prevent competition and to improve food access.
This ordinance, unanimously approved by the council on Tuesday, comes in response to the October closure of a Fred Meyer in north Seattle and a Whole Foods market on Capitol Hill. The goal is to make sure people have access to at least one nearby grocery store and pharmacy.

I grew up visiting family in Detroit, grocery stores are thin margin and often take losses on certain products. They can’t have theft and high taxes, this is 100 percent the city’s fault
Seattle isn’t going to see change until it drastically increases its police force and drastically increases fines and jail time for theft and drug use, and becomes a constitutional carry state / lifts all its anti 2A laws that restrict carry of guns legal on a federal level. Criminals feel way too empowered and nothing but a complete reversal of the far left policies will help.
Why the actual f are Washington/Seattle residents voting for these people ruining their state by restricting their rights and increasing crime by decreasing penalties!? Vote differently people.
Crime + high taxes. What possibly could go wrong. 🤪
I love how the new management wants to stop stores from closing and ignore the reason that they’re closing to begin with. THEFT.
